Auslan for Disability Organisations
Did you know currently one in six Australians will be affected by hearing loss and is set to increase to one in four by 2050? The condition is a lot common then than you might think.
Learning Auslan would assist your staff to learn Auslan signs and to increase their understanding of Deaf people. It will would help to improve their ability to provide better support to people with disabilities who are hearing but are non verbal and could use Auslan signs to assist with expressing themselves.
Our Auslan for Disability Organisations can be of 4 to 8 weeks duration at 2 hours per week at your workplace. This course would give each staff the foundations to communicate effectively with any deaf or non verbal person as well as developing tools to use Auslan in a wide range of situations.
As an additional learning aid we have created an Auslan for Everyone learning USB for staff to learn Auslan signs and to use it as a refresher to maintain Auslan skills.
We recommend that you purchase the USB as well as undertaking a professional development course of a least 8 hours in a 4 week x 2 hour session.
The Auslan for Everyone USB contains around 850 signs across 50 different categories. The categories include:
- Dates and time
- Around the house
- Animals (farm, zoo and domestic)
- Food (fruit / breakfast / lunch / dinner)
- School subjects
